Big Poppie’s Beer Cheese
2017 will be Big Poppie’s first time competing at the Beer Cheese Festival. They’ve been making beer cheese for friends and family for years, but about 4 years ago, decided to start sharing the goodness. Big Poppie’s currently offers three flavors of Kentucky Proud Beer Cheese – original, sharp cheddar bacon and queso jalapeno. All are available in mild and hot.

In 2015, Lexington’s own Dad’s Favorites was crowned People’s Choice Award winner by festival goers. The win followed their first runner up finish in 2014. From classic to green chili jack, Dad’s has something to tickle your taste buds. Will this be the year for a Dad’s Favorites come back?
Hall’s is a perennial favorite! They took home the People’s Choice Award in 2016 and were awarded First Place in 2015 by our panel of judges. As legend goes, Hall’s is made with THE original beer cheese recipe created by Joe Allman in 1930s… will it stand the test of time? Find out on June 10!
Full Circle Market had our panel of judges smitten with their certified gluten-free and Kentucky Proud beer cheese in 2016 – it’s whipped to the perfect consistency for dipping and spreading. Can they do it again this year?
Made in neighboring Nicholasville, Kentucky Beer Cheese is a tradition 25 years in the making. Using THE original beer cheese recipe as a starting point, Kentucky Beer Cheese put their own twist on the tradition for a unique flavor profile. They brought home the first place price in 2011 and claimed first runner up in 2013.

In 2016, Moo Shine came in third runner up with our illustrious panel of judges, and the Moo Shine Cow is always a crowd-pleaser on Beer Cheese Boulevard! Do they have what it takes to keep climbing the podium?
North Coast Beer Cheese entered the Beer Cheese Festival arena for the first time in 2016. Though they didn’t place, they came very close to taking home the People’s Choice title, proving you don’t have to be from Kentucky to make great beer cheese. Is 2017 their year?
PJ’s Beer Cheese will be making its first appearance at the Beer Cheese Festival this year. PJ’s Beer Cheese is a smooth mixture of aged cheddar cheese, beer, and spices. PJ’s is locally produced in Lexington and is certified Kentucky Proud. Welcome to the competition!
