Official Commercial Beer Cheese Festival Competition
Rules & Guidelines 2012

- The Beer Cheese Festival allows for blind judging only. Entries will be submitted in an approved BCF numbered container provided by the contest organizer.
- Official BCF numbered containers will be presented to each contestant by 11:00 a.m. on June 9th at their respected booth. Each container will consist of one numbered box with 3 numbered Soufflé Cups inside.
- Official BCF containers will be submitted by each Beer Cheese Contestant to a BCF Contest Rep at City Hall by 12:00 p.m. on June 9th.
- Each Official BCF container shall include the following: 3 individual samples of beer cheese. No other garnishments, or items may be present in the official box. If other items are present the beer cheese will be disqualified.
- Official judging will begin at 1:00 p.m. on June 9th inside City Hall. Judging area will be closed off to public during this time.
- Judges may not fraternize with teams on turn-in day until conclusion of judging.
- Judging will be done by a panel of 3 persons.
- Each judge will score each entry for taste and texture, before moving on to the next entry.
- The scoring system is from 9 (Excellent) to 2 (Bad).
- All whole numbers between two and nine may be used to score an entry. 6 is the starting point.
- A score of one (1) is a disqualification and requires approval by a Contest Rep.
- Judges will only be offered water to cleanse pallet at time of judging.
- All scoring should start with 6 and then go from there. 6 being average. If the entry is below average it will be scored accordingly, and if it's better than average, of course a higher number will be assigned.
- Comment cards will be used and the judges are encouraged to fill them out.
- Grounds for disqualification:
- Unapproved garnish, marked turn-in container, foreign object in container, less than 3 samples of beer cheese.
- Tallying of Votes
- Judging will end by 3 p.m. on June 9th 2012
- Votes will be tallied after judges have submitted their votes to official BCF Contest Rep.
- Announcements & Awards
- The winner of the Judges Choice and People’s Choice Awards will be announced at 4:30 p.m. on June 9th on the courthouse steps.
- Official Winners will be able to claim their prizes at this time.
- Comment Cards will be available to pick up after the announcement of the winner on the courthouse steps from an official BCF Contest Organizer. Official judging scores will not be available for review.
- Commercial Beer Cheese Awards

- People’s Choice Voting Rules
- Each festival attendee with a wristband will receive (1) voting ticket. The ticket holder will then have the opportunity to taste all available beer cheese samples and vote for their favorite.

- Amateur Contestants must bring their beer cheese samples to City Hall by 11:00 a.m. on June 9th.
- Official BCF numbered containers will be presented to each contestant at arrival. Each container will consist of one numbered box with 3 numbered Soufflé Cups inside.
- Amateur Contestants are responsible for transferring their beer cheese samples into the 3 numbered souffle cups and then placing those souffle cups into the matching numbered box.
- Each Official BCF container shall include the following: 3 individual samples of beer cheese. No other garnishments, or items may be present in the official box. If other items are present the beer cheese will be disqualified.
